Recovered Tornado Items Now at Washington Library

Beginning Monday, April 21, 2014, the remaining photos, documents and mementos recovered from the tornado have been transferred to the Washington District Library Five Points location and can be claimed during regular library hours.

The continuing effort is aimed at reuniting the remaining 6,000 items and to serve as a convenient drop-off location for additional found mementos as clean-up efforts continue.

The public is asked to help in the effort to identify photographs and mementos by viewing the online catalogs on the Facebook Page “Found Items from the Washington Illinois and Diamond Illinois Tornadoes”
or by visiting the homepage of the Washington District Library and clicking on the tornado recovery links.

The Morton Library was originally the collection site for the photos and personal papers found as a result of the November 17 tornado. This effort was named "Community POWER Project" on January 7. These items are now located at the Washington District Library.
