Morton History Room:

       

  • History Room Resources - Documents, photos, objects and books of historical interest about the village and residents of Morton are kept in the History Room of Morton Public Library. The foundation of the collection was the generous donation of all items held by the Morton Historical Society in 1998. Current and former residents of Morton continue to donate items which futher expands the scope of information available for geneological and historical research.

    The History Room, located in the adult area of the library, is available for use Monday - Thursday: 9am- 9pm (until 8pm in summer), Friday: 9am - 6pm and Saturday: 9am - 5pm.

  • Obituary Index - Morton Times newspaper obituaries from 1909 to present. Available for use in the Library.

Do You Remember?

Since 2010, we have been working on identifying a large collection of 1960s and 1970s photos taken by J. K. White of businesses in Morton. We need your help with the names and addresses of these photos.  We will add new photos as the old photos are identified.  If you are able to supply any information regarding the photos below, please call the library at 263-2200 (ask for Mary Lynn), stop in the History Room on Monday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or email mortonlibraryhist@gmail.com.

Photo #004 Identified! Photo # 004 This structure is a garage located behind 105 W. Pershing St.

Photo #003 Identified! Located south/west of David St. between Maple and Liberty. One building is still standing. Originally owned by Clay-Meyer Equipment; currently owned by Fort Transfer at 225 S. Maple.

Photo #002 Identified! This building was located behind the home at 412 N Main St.
