1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program is an early literacy skill building program. Simply read a book to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (yes, you can repeat books) before your child starts kindergarten. Receive a prize for each 100 books read. Information packets are available at the Children’s Desk. Ages: 0-5 years

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program encourages parents and caregivers to provide positive, nurturing, early experiences by reading aloud to their children regularly. Research shows the most reliable predictor of school success is being read to at home during early childhood. By sharing books with children, you promote a lifelong love of books and reading. This program is simple and the rewards are priceless!
