1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

This program is simple and the rewards are priceless!

  • 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program is an early literacy skill building program. 
  • Ages: 0-5 years 
  • Simply read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (yes, you can repeat books) before your child starts kindergarten. Receive a prize for each 100 books read.

Baby Bounce

  • Meets the 2nd & 4th Thursday at 10:15 a.m.

Storytime just for babies. It’s never to early to help your baby discover books! 


Book Club for Tweens

Chapter Chatters Book Club for Tweens logo

  • This is a Book Club for ages 9-12 and meets once a month for a book discussion, activities, and snacks. Snacks and drinks are provided. (No registration.) 
  • Copies of the book are available at the library. Call 309-263-2200 or email to reserve a copy.

2018 Schedule & Titles - will meet on the third Wednesday from 3:00-4:00 p.m.


Color By Design

  • Meets the second Wednesday of the month from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
  • Use markers or colored pencils to fill in intricate coloring pages while enjoying snacks and conversation. All supplies and snacks will be provided. 
  • Grades: 5-8. 

GEMS Club - Girls Excelling in Math & Science*

GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math and Science) allows girls to explore and get hands-on experience in different areas of science, technology, engineering and math.

Lego Club

  • Meets the first & third Monday of each month at 3:15 p.m.

  • Ages: 6-12 
Kids will share their building skills in a small group setting. A sample project is presented but kids are free to use their own creativity. The club is led by Sue Rose.

Rhythm & Rhyme Storytime*

  • *Watch our calendar for upcoming dates*
  • Ages: 3-5 year olds

Parents watch your children march to a beat with happy feet at our Rhythm & Rhyme Storytime! Sessions will include stories, finger-plays, rhythm instruments, songs, and fun.

  • It's a great opportunity for a child to meet and interact with children their own age and gain a love of reading at an early age.
  • *Registration is required - limited to 20 children. Once your child is registered, they are registered for all sessions. 

Sign & Sing Story Time

  • Sign and Sing Story Time is presented by Communication Junction
  • Meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 10:15 a.m.

Tinker Tots

  • Drop-in sensory art program for toddlers and their parents
  • We'll provide materials in a variety of textures for children to create their own art project, helping children develop and cultivate skills through sensory play.
  • Ages: 2-4 years 
  • 10:00 a.m. to noon

  • No registration needed. Parent supervision required. Make it a play date!

Toddler Time - Every Friday!

  • Interactive learning experience between parent and child. 
  • Introduces parent and child to traditional and new children's literature, songs, fingerplays, & activities in a group setting. 
  • Ages: Pre-school children 
  • Drop in Friday for either our 9:30 a.m. session or 10:30 a.m. session
  • No registration needed
